Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 7 in just a little over a year now. This leaves many people weary about what to do. Many have tried Windows 10 and have had issues, but the majority of these issues come from running Windows 10 on an older PC. And many want to get a new computer but stick with Windows 7 only to find out new computers can not come with Windows 7. Honestly…. Windows 10 has been great on NEW PC’s! Most people ran the free upgrade on their older machines, and that is where most of the problems came. It isn’t perfect, but neither was Windows 7 at the beginning. Our suggestion over the next year is to get a new PC built for Windows 10. We don’t suggest paying to put windows 10 on an older machine. We have had bad luck so far. We also understand that many of you have software that requires Windows 7, in that case, you have no choice but to hold on to Windows 7 for as long as you can…. but with Windows 7 support ending, it will slowly get less and less secure so you may want to work with your Software Companies to come up with a plan!

Summary:

Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. When this 10-year period ends, Microsoft will discontinue Windows 7 support so that we can focus our investment on supporting newer technologies and great new experiences. The specific end of support day for Windows 7 will be January 14, 2020. After that, technical assistance and automatic updates that help protect your PC will no longer be made available for the product. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10 sometime before January 2020 to avoid a situation where you need service or support that is no longer available.

You can continue to use Windows 7, but after support has ended, your PC will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Windows will continue to start and run, but you will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft.
